James Henry's story
Bell has R J Holloway.
Formerly KRRC.
From Barry Langridge’s research on the men of the Rifle Brigade:
James Holloway enlisted in December 1915 and served in the 2nd Battalion, Rifle Brigade. During the first two months of 1918 the 2nd Battalion was on duty in the Passchendaele sector (Flanders). In March it moved into France and by early August was in action at Vimy (between Lens and Arras). Thereafter until mid October it was in action moving eastwards following the retreating German Army. Between early August and mid October the Battalion sustained one officer killed (its Commanding Officer), 10 officers wounded and 151 Other Ranks killed or wounded. It might be reasonable to assume that Rfm Holloway was wounded during the fighting against the retreating Germans and from which he subsequently died.
