Charles Thomas' story

Formerly KRRC, number R/30017.

During mid September 1917 the 16th Battalion, in which Rfm Kiff served, moved to Courcelles-au-Bois and from 20 to 31 September was in the front line. During this period one officer was wounded, five Other Ranks were killed and 10 wounded.  No major assault was made from the trenches during this period so it is likely the casualties were caused by enemy shell fire.

Thanks to Barry Langridge for his research on the men of the Rifle Brigade.

The bell has C Kiff listed as a Corporal.
