Walter Henry's story

Bell has W H Hewett.

Enlisted in Spring 1914 and served in 1st Battalion K.R..R.C. as Rfm. 5/4584. He landed in France on 30th November 1914, and was killed in action on 10 March 1915.

On this date the Battalion took part in a major assault on the German trenches at Givenchy (S.W. of Lille)  The battle lasted for most of the day and although the Battalion sustained over 250 casualties of all ranks, the attack was generally unsuccessful.
